I spent July 3 to July 7 of 2006 with Chuck's family in New Smyrna Beach. They rent a condo right on the beach there for about a week every year. It was a great great time! Coming from a year in CA, the beach was so great...such warm water. I did a lot of swimming in the pool, the ocean, played dominos, had tropically themed home-made aloholic beverages, put on lots unscreen, dug up sand crabs from the shore, etc. We were also fortunate enough to see the July 4th shuttle launch which was really cool. I believe that's the closest I've ever been to a launch - even at that distance it was incredible. And of course, we saw a bunch of fireworks shot off from the beach. There wasn't any sort of professional show, but the quantity of fireworks was impressive, and they were actually decently sized. Beth was even in the neighborhood at one point so she spent a day with us!!! It was so good to see her! So yeah, I had a really good time.
